As some of you may know, I recently auditioned for Disney which was such an amazing experience, loads of fun and made some great friends.
For the weeks leading up to my audition I scoured every corner of the internet researching everything there is to know about disney face characters and thought I may as well share my knowledge I gathered, for future reference when I go and audition in London, and if any of you are awaiting an audition!
So first up, what is a disney face character ?

So first up, what is a disney face character ?
Face characters are actors hired to portray famous disney characters within the disneyland parks. They have to have improvisational skills during meet and greet's while talking to the public, in their characters accent and voice and being able to answer any questions thrown at them about their character and movie. They are put through two weeks of intense training, studying their movie and learning mannerisms and accents. Learning how to walk and talk exactly like their character.

So yeah there's a LOT of options for all different people to be a face character.
But for the sake of time and effort, Im going to focus on the main princesses for the rest of this post.
So for each individual princess, there is a certain 'look' obviously the princess face must have, facial characteristics and requirements that casting directors will look for, and after much research I have made a list of descriptions about each princess.....
Snow white :
Cinderella :
Sleeping beauty :
Ariel :
Belle :
Jasmine :
Pocahontas :
Mulan :
Tiana :
Merida :
anna :
Elsa :
So there is definitely options for everyone....
HOWEVER
certain requirements must be met by ALL face characters...
1. HEIGHT : for most princesses there is a height requirement between 5'4 and 5'7 to keep character integrity as well as costume fitting
2. SIZE : the largest size of costume Disney holds for princesses is a size 10
3. AGE : you have to be at least 18 years old to even be able to audition, but most princesses stationed in the parks are usually between 18-23, its rare to find a princess over 27 but not uncommon for long term Employee's to hold a princess position into the 24-26 age bracket.
4. MARKINGS : no visible tattoos, scars, or birthmarks are allowed, once again, for character integrity
5. RULES : you are not allowed to discuss with anyone what character you are portraying, you cant post about your position at all on social media or tell any of your family or friends what character you are, disney is very strict about this.
6. SIGNATURES : All disney princesses must be able to perfectly sign their characters signature when giving autographs to people, they have to be perfect so if someone was to compare a signature from Snow White 10 years ago to one Snow White's signature this year, they would be almost identical. Once again, character integrity.
7. EYE COLOUR : one thing that takes the pressure off, if you don't have the specific eye colour to your princess, contacts are provided, so don't think because you don't have blue eyes you cant be Ariel!

Something I love about the princesses is for different occasions, seasons, and parks they have different costumes.
Princess Winter dresses, christmas dresses, spring dresses, and the tokyo / hong kong disneyland princess costumes are so different and beautiful I just had to share :

And remember those signatures I talked about earlier ?
I think that pretty much sums up everything about Disney Princess Face Characters, Obviously I only focussed on the females, theres plenty of male face characters in the disney parks but I wanted to go into detail for the princesses and just did not have time to do the MALE'S as well, but maybe another post will be based on the males.
So to finish off, Ill leave you with some pictures of the princesses in the Disney Electrical Parade, a night time light show where the princesses parade down the street in big light up floats, and their own costumes light up as well! I cant wait to see this on my trip to Disneyland Paris this christmas,
Stay Beautiful xx
